In the 2016/17 season rapeseed production is not expected to be record high for several reasons:
winter rapeseed acreage decreased in Ukraine;
winter rapeseed losses are high this year.
As a result, rapeseed production is likely to reach 1.2-1.5 MMT. No doubt, the reduction of harvest will have an impact on exports and domestic crushing, which are likely to decrease.
Soybean production prospects are quite optimistic. Though UkrAgroConsult does not expect any expansion of soybean planted area, production is likely to grow to 4.4-4.8 MMT owing to increased yields.
A record high harvest will meet the demand of both crushers and exporters. As a result, crushing and exports are expected to hit records. Nobody doubts that sunflower acreage will be expanded in Ukraine in 2016. UkrAgroConsult estimates that sunflower planted area will increase to 6-6.2 Ml ha. UkrAgroConsult estimates that sunflower seed production will be also record high. If the weather is favorable, Ukraine may gather 12-13 MMT of sunseed (11.5 MMT in the 2015/16 season).
