Despite the fact that several economic and weather factors contribute to further reduction of the general grain production in Ukraine, in 2016/17 MY the country will continue keeping the export potential of the reporting agrarian market segment at rather high level.
According to APK-Inform analysts, in 2016 the general harvest of grains and pulses in Ukraine will reach 57.8 mln tonnes, a decrease of 4% only compared with the previous year (60.1 mln tonnes). In particular, the production of wheat will total 21.5 mln tonnes (down 19%), barley – 8.6 mln tonnes (up 3%), and corn – 25.6 mln tonnes (up 10%).
The above-mentioned production volumes will form the grain export potential of Ukraine at the level of 31.5 mln tonnes, down 5% only compared with the forecasted exports in 2015/16 MY (33.3 mln tonnes). In particular, in 2016/17 MY the exports of Ukrainian wheat will reach 10.2 mln tonnes, barley – 4.1 mln tonnes, corn – 17 mln tonnes. (apk-inform.com)
